NFV investments to surpass $12 Billion by 2020, says SNS Research report
DUBAI, UAE. 10th May 2016: SNS Research's latest report indicates that service providers are expected to invest over $12 Billion in NFV (Network Functions Virtualization) deployments by 2020.
The NFV concept seeks to virtualize and effectively consolidate many service provider network elements onto multi-tenant industry-standard servers, switches and storage. Not only can it help address the explosive capacity demand of mobile traffic, but it can also reduce the CapEx and OpEx burden faced by service providers to handle this demand by diminishing reliance on expensive proprietary hardware platforms.
By the end of 2020, SNS Research estimates that NFV investments will account for over $12 Billion. These investments will initially focus on EPC/mobile core, IMS, policy control, CPE (Customer Premises Equipment), CDN (Content Delivery Network) and transport networks.
